Georg Appeltshauser

Georg Appeltshauser studied precision engineering at Ulm Technical College followed by product design at the Stuttgart Art Academy. In 1980 he established his own design office. At the time, his professional career was rather technical and oriented toward product design. One of the first products Georg Appeltshauser developed under his own name was a modern armchair with integrated footrest, which won a prize for good design and caused a stir in the press. A good seller, this chair has been produced, unchanged, for more than 25 years. Building on this success, Georg Appeltshauser has focused his work on the philosophy and formation of functional, usable furniture. In the past years, over 30 innovations were registered for patents in the industry for functional furniture, a large part of which were awarded patents. Many successful and well known designs in the product range of internationally renowned furniture companies show that Appeltshauser was ahead of his time and certainly on the right track.
